Job summary

Australian Training Company is seeking a 1st year Heavy Vehicle apprentice to complete their Certificate III Automotive – Heavy Commercial Vehicle with a large transport company. You will gain exposure to transmission, braking and suspension systems while working with a fleet of over 100 vehicles.

You will participate in both practical training on the job and theory-based study components at TAFE, with a regular 38-hour week and overtime possibilities. A driver’s license is expected.

Qualifications

• Passionate about vehicles, mechanics and/or the motor industry.
• Keen to learn, enthusiastic and can work in a productive team environment.
• Punctual & reliable.
• Driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Repair, maintain and service transmission, steering and braking systems.
• Fault finding and resolving mechanical issues (repairs, removals, installations).
• Troubleshoot braking systems, steering and cooling systems.
• Maintenance of equipment including brakes and suspension.
• Assemble, fit, clean and lubricate machined parts using a range of tools and equipment.
• Follow directions from tradespeople.
