Job summary

Northeast Auto Group's Big Chief Hire is seeking a Heavy Haulage Driver based in South Australia. This hands-on driving role requires safe operation of oversized loads and strict adherence to NHVR regulations.

You will load, transport, and unload heavy machinery across Adelaide metro and regional SA; a current HC/MC licence with 3–4 years experience is expected, along with pre-employment medical clearance.

Qualifications

• Current HC or MC licence with a minimum of 3-4 years’ heavy vehicle driving experience.
• Shift and load ticket or VOC.
• Proven experience in heavy haulage, including loading and unloading plant and machinery.
• Low loader experience (highly regarded).
• Strong understanding of NHVR regulations and Chain of Responsibility requirements.
• Ability to pass a pre‑employment medical and hold a current Fit to Drive assessment.
• Strong safety focus with a clean and reliable driving history.
• Confident working independently and making safe operational decisions.

Responsibilities

• Safely load, unload, and transport heavy machinery and oversized freight across South Australia.
• Operate in compliance with NHVR Heavy Vehicle National Law and Chain of Responsibility obligations.
• Conduct thorough daily pre-start checks to ensure roadworthiness.
• Manage fatigue in accordance with regulations and company policy.
• Secure loads using approved restraint methods and procedures.
• Maintain accurate records and complete required documentation.
