Douglass Hanly Moir Pathology in Macquarie Park NSW invites applications for a Technical or Scientific Officer in our Histology Department. This 12-month maternity relief role supports routine histology, slide preparation and equipment maintenance.

You will hold a Medical Science degree or AIMS-equivalent, have at least two years in a histology lab, and work Monday to Friday 8am–4pm, with a strong focus on accuracy, teamwork and safety.

• Minimum 2 years in histology/anatomy lab.
• Full-time 8am–4pm, Mon–Fri, 12-month maternity relief.

We are seeking an enthusiastic Technical or Scientific Officer to join our Histology Department at Macquarie Park in a 12-month maternity relief role. You will be an essential team member, and your responsibilities will include the following:

Responsibilities

• Perform routine histology procedures including microtomy (tissue sectioning) and embedding and preparing high-quality slides for staining and analysis, including special stains.
• Maintain and operate laboratory equipment and instruments.
• Adhering to standard laboratory protocols and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
• Collaborating with the team to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality results.
• Troubleshoot equipment and technical issues as they arise

We are looking for the following:

• Graduated with a Medical Science Degree or recognised AIMS equivalent.
• Minimum 2 year’s experience in a histology/anatomy lab or highly knowledgeable in histological processes, histological instruments and laboratory equipment
• Open to working Full-time Monday to Friday hours from 8am to 4pm.
• Excellent attention to detail and good time management skills.
• Team player with the ability to work unsupervised
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
