Job summary

Douglass Hanly Moir Pathology in Wagga Wagga seeks a Hospital Scientist to join the local Calvary Hospital Riverina lab. The role covers transfusion, haematology, blood film morphology, coagulation and biochemistry, with rostered hours across a 24-hour operation.

• Work as part of a 24-hour laboratory team with variable roster.

An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic Hospital Scientist to join our Wagga Wagga laboratory located at Calvary Hospital Riverina, on a permanent full-time basis. The role will include transfusion, haematology, blood film morphology, coagulation and biochemistry. The position will require you to work effectively and efficiently as part of a team. Rostered hours will vary to cover the operational hours of a 24-hour laboratory.

Selection criteria

To be considered for this position, the applicant must have a relevant Science degree. Previous experience in haematology and or blood bank (3-5 years is preferable). General computer skills and venepuncture experience will be highly regarded but not essential.

• Appropriately qualified - Degree in Medical Science or recognised AIMS equivalent.
• Experience in transfusion will be highly regarded
• Experience in a diagnostic laboratory with Australian industry experience.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
• The ability to work in a team environment without direct supervision.
• An understanding of quality control techniques.
• Proficient, motivated and highly organised with great attention to detail.
• Must be able to live and work in Australia on a permanent basis.
