Job summary

Head Teacher - Industrial Arts - Cronulla High School

Cronulla High School is a large, comprehensive coeducational secondary school located in the Sutherland Shire adjacent to Cronulla’s beaches, with a current enrolment of 1190 students, including 39 Aboriginal students. The school enjoys a long-standing reputation for excellence across academic achievement, the creative and performing arts, sport and student leadership, and has a highly engaged school community. General Selection Criteria

• Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
• Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
• Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
• Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
• Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
• Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy

Specific Selection Criteria

• Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria:
• Approval and teaching experience in Design and Technology, Industrial Technology – Metal, Industrial Technology – Woodwork, and VET Construction.
• Demonstrated capacity to lead and manage a large and diverse TAS faculty, ensuring effective operations, compliance, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Comprehensive knowledge of new curriculum developments, with proven expertise in leading implementation through a dynamic and innovative approach that inspires and supports staff to deliver high-quality teaching and learning across Technologies and VET subjects.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a proactive member of the executive team, leading strategic initiatives that drive excellence and whole-school improvement.

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
