Job summary

Qantas Group is seeking a Head of Technology Chapter at its Adelaide Head Office to lead end-to-end engineering and quality engineering capability within the Product Innovation Centre. You will drive engineering strategy, standards, and AI-native development while leading multiple squads and engineering leaders across mobile, web, backend, and quality domains.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in software engineering or technology roles.
• 10+ years in senior engineering leadership across multiple teams.
• Demonstrated hands-on fluency in AI-assisted engineering practices.
• Enterprise leadership across engineering and quality engineering capabilities.
• Capability strategy design and maturity uplift at scale.
• Governance of enterprise engineering standards across engineering, testing, security, reliability and deployment.
• Systems thinking across complex tech environments with debt strategy ownership.
• Proven ability to align engineering, quality, platform, design and delivery to reduce friction.

Responsibilities

• Define engineering strategy, establish technical standards, and drive AI-native development practices.
• Provide leadership on engineering priorities and capability development.
• Ensure consistent quality, scalability, and operational excellence across the organisation.
• Co-lead AI-native engineering transformation with Senior Manager, Applied AI.
• Translate enterprise technology strategy into execution across distributed chapter structure.
• Measure success via engineering excellence and adoption of AI-native ways of working.
