Job summary
Qantas, through its Adelaide Head Office, seeks the Head of Engineering Chapter to lead end-to-end engineering and quality engineering capability across the Product Innovation Centre, guiding Mobile, Web, Backend & Integration, and Quality Engineering, setting engineering strategy, and driving AI-native development across cross-functional squads.
In this role you’ll partner with the Senior Manager, Applied AI to embed AI practices and sustain standards as the Centre scales.
Qualifications
- 15+ years in software engineering or technology roles.
- 10+ years in senior engineering leadership across multiple teams.
- Hands-on fluency in AI-assisted engineering practices.
- Leadership across engineering and quality engineering capability.
- Governance of enterprise engineering standards across engineering, testing, security and deployment.
Responsibilities
- Define engineering strategy and standards across the Product Innovation Centre.
- Lead Chapter Leads for Mobile, Web, Backend & Integration, and Quality Engineering.
- Drive AI-native development adoption and embedding of AI practices.
- Ensure quality, scalability, and operational excellence across teams.
- Partner with the Senior Manager, Applied AI to embed AI practices and sustain adoption.
- Operate across a distributed chapter structure to translate enterprise strategy into execution.
