BAI Communications is seeking a Head of Solutions - Rail to become the technology leader for our rail business in Australia. You will report to the CTO and drive strategic engagement with operators, transport authorities and vendors to position BAI as the leading rail connectivity systems integrator.

You will bring extensive telecom experience, strong rail domain knowledge and a track record in winning major bids, shaping long-term growth, and leading cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in telecommunications with wireless/mobile expertise.
• Strong rail communications, control systems and transport tech experience.
• Pre-sales leadership, solutioning or strategic account management.

Responsibilities

• Represent BAI as the technology voice in the Australian rail sector.
• Build relationships with rail operators, authorities and government stakeholders.
• Lead industry engagement across rail comms technologies (FRMCS, GSM-R, ETCS).
• Develop alliances with technology vendors, OEMs and integration partners.
• Identify and qualify major rail connectivity opportunities.
• Provide technical leadership for strategic bids and pursuits.

BAI is seeking an accomplished Head of Solutions - Rail to become the recognised technology leader for our rail business. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, this highly visible role combines deep telecommunications expertise, strategic industry engagement and commercial influence to position BAI as Australia’s leading rail connectivity systems integrator.

Working in partnership with the Head of Rail, you will represent BAI across the rail ecosystem, building trusted relationships with operators, transport authorities, government agencies, technology vendors and industry bodies. Your insights, credibility and leadership will help identify, shape and secure large-scale rail communications and infrastructure opportunities that support the future of Australia’s transport network.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a senior telecommunications professional who thrives on industry engagement, thought leadership and opportunity origination while contributing technical expertise to major bids and projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Represent BAI as the technology voice within the Australian rail sector.
• Build trusted relationships with rail operators, authorities, infrastructure managers and government stakeholders.
• Drive industry engagement across rail communications technologies including FRMCS, GSM-R, DTRS, ETCS connectivity, MCX and private LTE/5G networks.
• Develop and strengthen strategic alliances with technology vendors, OEMs, signalling providers and integration partners.
• Identify, shape and qualify major rail connectivity opportunities.
• Provide technical leadership and solution expertise for strategic bids and pursuits.
• Support project teams with specialist rail communications guidance.
• Represent BAI at industry conferences, customer forums and working groups.
• Influence strategic investment, partner selection and opportunity pursuit decisions.
• Strengthen BAI's position as a tier-one rail connectivity systems integrator.

We’re looking for an influential industry leader with the commercial acumen, technical credibility and relationship-building capability required to succeed in a complex and evolving rail environment.

You will bring:

• Bachelor of Engineering in Telecommunications, Electronics or a related discipline.
• 15+ years' telecommunications industry experience, including significant wireless/mobile communications expertise.
• Strong experience within rail communications, control systems and transport technology environments.
• Proven success in pre-sales leadership, solutioning, strategic account management or customer-facing technical leadership roles.
• Expert knowledge of rail communication technologies including GSM-R, FRMCS, ETCS connectivity, MCX, DTRS and private LTE/5G.
• Demonstrated ability to develop strategic partnerships and alliance relationships.
• Experience influencing executive stakeholders and leading cross-functional teams.
• Outstanding communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
• A passion for innovation, industry engagement and shaping long-term growth opportunities.
