Job summary

The Opportunity Hub UK Ltd in Liverpool is hiring a Communications Director to shape and lead the company’s PR and communications strategy from the ground up. You’ll write and approve press releases, build media relationships across the North West, manage crisis communications, brief senior leadership, and ensure consistent messaging across all channels.

This role requires bold storytelling, agility in a startup context, and a readiness to contribute beyond the job description.

Qualifications

• Solid experience in PR & Communications, ideally with agency or in-house leadership.
• Strong writing ability for press releases and board updates.
• Comfort with ambiguity and startup environment.
• Ability to build a media contact list quickly.
• Calm judgement under pressure.
• Willingness to contribute beyond the role.

Responsibilities

• Shape and deliver the company's overall communications strategy.
• Write and approve press releases, statements, and thought leadership pieces.
• Build relationships with journalists, industry commentators, and partners across the North West and beyond.
• Manage crisis communications when they arise, and put plans in place so fewer of them do.
• Brief senior leadership ahead of interviews, panels, and public appearances.
• Track coverage and sentiment, then adjust the approach based on what's actually landing.
