Job summary

Expert360 is seeking a Head of Platforms and Engineering on the Gold Coast to lead the Group's shared technology platforms and architecture. You will report to the Group CIO and drive the platform across cloud, data, integration, automation, AI, security and architecture.

You’ll manage a ~10-person multidisciplinary team, govern tech standards, own the platform roadmap and optimise AWS/Azure costs, with four days in the office and interstate travel.

Qualifications

• 5+ years leading platform, engineering or architecture teams, including contractors and vendors.
• Enterprise-scale architecture ownership, ideally including chairing a governance forum.
• Hands-on depth in AWS and/or Azure, infrastructure as code, CI/CD and API-led integration.
• Practical data platform experience, ideally on the Microsoft stack.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical and solution architecture across the Group, including architecture governance and design standards.
• Own the shared platform roadmap, and make build, buy or outsource calls and vendor selections.
• Design and deliver cloud, infrastructure, integration and data platforms, with clear handover to IT Operations.
• Manage cloud consumption and platform costs across AWS and Azure.
• Lead data platform engineering on the Microsoft data stack.
• Engineer and support automation and AI solutions in production.
• Design and build security controls to the CISO’s standards.
• Manage managed service providers and platform partners.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team of around 10 people and establish strong engineering practice.

The role:

An established multi‑division group is looking for a Head of Platforms and Engineering to lead its shared technology platforms and architecture.

Reporting to the Group CIO and sitting on the Technology Leadership Team, you’ll lead the shared platform and engineering function across cloud and infrastructure, data, integration and automation, AI engineering, security engineering, and technical and solution architecture.

About you:

• 5+ years leading platform, engineering or architecture teams, including contractors and vendors

• Hands‑on depth in AWS and/or Azure, infrastructure as code, CI/CD and API‑led integration
• Practical data platform experience, ideally on the Microsoft stack
• Experience with automation and AI engineering in production
• Strong cost management, vendor management and stakeholder skills
• A tertiary qualification in technology, engineering or computer science, or equivalent experience
• AWS, Azure or TOGAF certifications are highly regarded

Location and working arrangements:

• Gold Coast based, four days a week in the office, with occasional interstate travel
