Job summary

P&C Partners Pty Ltd in Brisbane is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to own hands-on management of a Microsoft Azure environment within defence and national security sectors. You will drive improvements, automate infrastructure and work closely with cyber security teams.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on Microsoft Azure infrastructure experience.
• Strong knowledge of Azure networking, identity, virtual machines, storage and security.
• Practical experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
• Experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines and automation.
• Strong PowerShell and/or Python scripting capability.
• Experience supporting business-critical production infrastructure.
• Background in large enterprise, government or defence or other highly regulated environments.
• Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills.
• The ability to balance day-to-day operational responsibilities with longer-term platform improvements.

Job description

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Senior Platform Engineer to join a growing organisation operating within the defence and national security sector.

This is an opportunity for a technically strong engineer who enjoys being hands-on, taking ownership of complex infrastructure and driving meaningful improvements across a secure Microsoft Azure environment.

We're looking for someone who has developed their expertise within a large enterprise, government or similarly complex environment but is equally comfortable operating within a smaller, highly capable technical team.

This is not a hands-off architecture or management position. You'll be actively involved in engineering, troubleshooting, automation and the ongoing evolution of the platform.

The Opportunity

You’ll take ownership of the day-to-day management, support and continuous improvement of a classified Microsoft Azure environment supporting business-critical operations.

The organisation is transitioning from a traditional virtual machine-based infrastructure model towards a more automated, Infrastructure as Code approach.

Working closely with cyber security, infrastructure and business stakeholders, you'll help strengthen platform reliability, security, operational efficiency and automation.

Key Responsibilities

About You

You'll be an experienced infrastructure or cloud engineer with a strong Microsoft Azure background and a proven ability to operate independently in complex technical environments.

Ideally, you'll bring:

• Extensive hands-on Microsoft Azure infrastructure experience.
• Strong knowledge of Azure networking, identity, virtual machines, storage and security.
• Practical experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
• Experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines and automation.
• Strong PowerShell and/or Python scripting capability.
• Experience supporting business-critical production infrastructure.
• A background in large enterprise, government, defence or other highly regulated environments.

Exposure to the Australian Government ISM, PSPF, Essential Eight and classified infrastructure environments would be particularly valuable.

Security Clearance Requirements

An active NV1 security clearance is highly desirable and candidates currently holding NV1 clearance are strongly encouraged to apply.

Applicants without an existing clearance will also be considered, provided they are Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an Australian Government security clearance.

Experience supporting PROTECTED or higher classified environments will be highly regarded.
