Job summary

Junior School Co in Sydney is seeking a Leader of Learning for History and Legal Studies, commencing 2027, to lead a delegated group of teachers in pursuing excellence in teaching and learning including content knowledge, teaching methodology, classroom management, assessment and reporting and professional development.

The role requires leadership in curriculum development, assessment, reporting, and professional development, with a focus on using technology responsibly, understanding NESA

Qualifications

• Must meet Working with Children Check requirements
• Committed to understanding and actively promoting the Catholic ethos of the College
• Committed to the education of boys
• Able to account for departmental resources and submit annual budgets for approval
• Familiar with the College's Strategic Improvement Plan and able to implement relevant objectives
• Able to comply with the College's Workplace, Health and Safety policies and procedures

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership in teaching, learning and assessment
• Demonstrate excellence as a classroom teacher and a high level of professionalism
• Provide leadership in the effective and safe use of technology in teaching and learning
• Demonstrate and communicate a thorough knowledge of NESA and other requirements relative to courses within the department
• Promote an effective framework for curriculum development within the department
• Initiate and supervise the development, implementation and evaluation of effective teaching/learning programs in collaboration with members of the Department
• Adapt the curriculum to ensure that inclusive education of all pupils is achieved and maintained
• Coordinate and manage appropriate assessment, recording and reporting procedures
• Develop learning and teaching skills within the department
• Facilitate opportunities for self and departmental participation in professional development and reflective practice
