Job summary

Sydney Trains Auburn, NSW, is seeking a Professional Head Electrical Engineering to lead the discipline across the network. You will set strategic direction for electrical engineering, drive governance, and ensure safety, reliability and sustainability of critical infrastructure.

You will provide enterprise-wide technical authority, advise executives and regulators, and shape asset investment decisions with a focus on integrity and safety culture across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Extensive experience within safety-critical rail or comparable regulated infrastructure environments.
• Proven experience in engineering governance, technical authority, assurance or professional head leadership roles.
• Deep knowledge of electrical infrastructure, asset lifecycle management and complex engineering systems.
• Strong understanding of relevant legislation, engineering standards and regulatory frameworks.
• Demonstrated ability to provide trusted advice to senior executives, regulators and key stakeholders.
• Experience leading technical investigations, risk-based decision making and engineering assurance activities.
• Eligibility for Chartered Engineer or Professional Registration status will be highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Provide enterprise-wide technical authority and professional leadership across Sydney Trains' safety-critical electrical engineering discipline.
• Govern engineering standards, assurance frameworks and technical publications to meet regulatory requirements.
• Advise executive leadership, Transport for NSW and regulators on technical risk, asset performance and major decisions.
• Strengthen engineering capability, competency and authorisation frameworks for a future-focused workforce.
