Job summary

UniSuper is looking for an experienced Manager, Data Science to lead the data science capability and a small team delivering machine learning, predictive modelling and advanced analytics.

You will guide modelling approaches, translate outputs into practical decisions for senior stakeholders, and oversee end-to-end model production, governance and ongoing performance. You’ll partner with business leaders to address operational, regulatory and strategic challenges and measure real business impact.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading and developing a team of data science specialists.
• Substantial hands-on experience in data science, predictive modelling or machine learning before moving into leadership.
• Demonstrated experience developing, implementing and maintaining customer or member propensity models in production.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a team of data science specialists.
• Set the technical direction, methodologies and standards for data science modelling.
• Lead the development, production and ongoing maintenance of predictive and propensity models.
• Translate model outputs into clear recommendations for senior stakeholders.
• Partner with business leaders and Product Owners to identify where data science adds value.
• Establish model governance, documentation, drift monitoring, bias and fairness.
• Oversee feature requirements, production scoring and model performance.
• Provide analytical leadership supporting financial crime risk and regulatory obligations.
• Prioritise the team’s work and manage resourcing.
