Job summary

BelgraviaPRO is seeking an experienced Head Chef to manage hospitality at the South Stradbroke Island campground café, bar and restaurant. You will lead the kitchen, shape menus, and work with the Venue Manager to deliver high-quality guest experiences and achieve financial and program targets.

You will coach and motivate a diverse kitchen team, ensure sanitation and safety, monitor costs, and collaborate with stakeholders to maintain exceptional service on the island.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in food production and kitchen operations.
• Knowledge of food industry trends, best practices and regulations.
• Proficiency in hospitality management systems and operations.
• Current First Aid Certificate (Level 2) and CPR.
• Working with Children Check and National Police Check.
• Qualification as a Chef.

• Hires, trains and evaluates the work of staff in food production departments.
• Plans menus in consultation with the Venue Manager
• Schedules and coordinates the work of chefs, cooks and other kitchen employees to assure that food preparation is economical and technically correct and within budgeted labour cost goals.
• Approves the requisition of products and other necessary food supplies; ensures sanitation, cleanliness and safety are maintained.
• Lead and motivate the kitchen team to deliver high levels of customer service and training.

A fantastic opportunity exists for the right candidate to manage the hospitality at beautiful South Stradbroke Island campground.

The Role

Reporting to the Venue Manager as the Head Chef of the South Stradbroke Island which incorporates a Café, Bar & Restaurant. You will be responsible for the venue’s hospitality operational, financial and program deliverables. You will develop and execute plans through engagement with the venue's leadership team and key stakeholders.

With experience in running a busy kitchen, you will be responsible for contributing to the Park’s hospitality success.

About You

You are a hands-on kitchen (food production) focused leader who motivates and inspires their team through your own personal customer focused approach. You are passionate about food & beverage.

You will be able to share insights into how you have successfully shaped high-performance teams into business actions.

This position will suit someone who is used to developing menus and delivering a great meal service.

Key Accountabilities

• Hires, trains and evaluates the work of staff in food production departments.

• Ensure a high level of customer service by leading and motivating the kitchen (food production) team, setting performance expectations and providing ongoing training and development.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

• Relevant professional certifications in hospitality management or related areas.
• 5+ years of experience in food production and kitchen operations.
• Knowledge of food industry trends, best practices and regulations.
• Proficiency in hospitality management systems and operations.
• A customer-centric mindset with a commitment to delivering outstanding customer service and a passion for creating memorable guest experiences.
• Strong leadership and organisational skills to manage a diverse team and ensure smooth operations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and maintain positive relationships with guests, staff and vendors.
• Ability to multitask, prioritise and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Current First Aid Certificate (Level 2)
