Handsome Max in Glenelg East, Adelaide, is seeking a Head Barista/Café Manager to lead a busy, two-venue operation and elevate the coffee experience.

You will train and develop baristas, manage daily service and inventory, and ensure every espresso, latte art, and plate reflects our brand. A hospitality-first leader with a calm, proactive approach is essential.

Weekend availability is required as busiest times demand a strong team to maintain exceptional service.

We are a cafe located in Glenelg East, we are your local go to cafe and looking for a Head Barista/Café Manager who’s just as obsessed with coffee as we are—someone who can lead a team, build a local customer base and take great care of our customers, and elevate the entire coffee experience.

What We're Looking For

This isn’t your average café gig. We’re searching for a hospitality-first leader—someone who understands the grind (literally and figuratively), gets excited about pressure profiling, and someone who thrives in a very busy space!

Positive and 'can do' attitude a must, we are hitting the ground running with this new and exciting venue and looking for someone to represent our brand with pride and upbeat personality.

Someone looking to build a new venue into a community icon

Hands-on experience running a high-volume specialty coffee venue

A deep understanding of coffee extraction, workflow, and dialing in

Experience with training and developing baristas,

A passion for breakfast, lunch menus that complement great coffee

Strong leadership skills and a commitment to service excellence

A willingness to lead by example—on bar, on floor, and in the team dynamic

Ability to handle High Pressure situations whilst maintaining consistency.

Strong skills in espresso preparation, latte art and milk texturizing.

Recipe writing and creative flair

Hours of Work

This is a unique position as we operate two hospitality venues, allowing us the opportunity to offer applicants part time or full time work at Handsome Max by shuffling staff to our second venue if you require full time work, or bring staff over if you are seeking part time work, offering applicants the flexibility for the management role they require - fulltime or part time.

We have a great team of staff and managers to support your role, however weekends are a requirement for this role to ensure our busiest times we have our strongest team oeprating.
