Job summary

EVT’s QT Canberra property seeks a skilled Maintenance Technician to service guest rooms, public areas and back-of-house facilities. You will perform plumbing, electrical and carpentry tasks, ensure HVAC integrity, and respond to emergencies with a focus on safety and guest comfort.

The role requires proven maintenance experience, a hands-on approach, problem-solving ability and flexibility to work evenings or weekends as needed in a busy hospitality environment.

Qualifications

• Proven maintenance/repair experience, preferably in hospitality.
• Proficiency in plumbing, electrical, carpentry and general handyperson tasks.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Flexible hours incl. evenings/weekends and on-call emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine maintenance, including plumbing repairs, electrical work and HVAC system checks.
• Inspect guest rooms, public areas and back-of-house facilities to identify and address maintenance needs.
• Repair or replace damaged furniture, fixtures and equipment, and paint and touch up surfaces.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies, such as leaks, power outages and heating or cooling problems.
• Complete regular safety inspections, report hazards and assist with fire alarm system testing and maintenance.
• Maintain an organised inventory of maintenance supplies and order stock as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
