Job summary

Rydges Sydney Central, part of EVT, is seeking a casual Handyperson to keep the property safe, comfortable and looking its best. You’ll work with the Maintenance Manager on repairs and maintenance across the hotel to ensure a great guest and team experience.

You’ll bring proven maintenance experience, with skills in plumbing, electrical, carpentry and general handyperson tasks, plus strong problem-solving, communication and the ability to work flexible shifts including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in maintenance, repair or a related field, ideally in a hotel or hospitality environment
• Proficiency in plumbing, electrical, carpentry and general handyperson tasks
• Strong problem-solving skills and great attention to detail
• Clear communication and a collaborative approach to working with the Maintenance and Operations teams
• Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance across the hotel, including plumbing repairs, electrical work and HVAC system checks
• Inspect guest rooms, public areas and back-of-house facilities to identify and resolve maintenance needs early
• Repair or replace damaged furniture, fixtures and equipment, and paint and touch up surfaces to keep the property looking its best
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and urgent repairs, including leaks, power outages and heating or cooling issues
• Complete regular safety inspections, report hazards, and assist with fire alarm system testing and maintenance, ensuring all work meets safety regulations and hotel standards
• Keep an organised inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment, ordering stock as needed

The Opportunity

We're looking for a casual Handyperson to help keep Rydges Sydney Central safe, comfortable and looking its best. Working closely with the Maintenance Manager, you'll tackle repairs and maintenance across the property, so guests and our team always have a great experience.
