Job summary

Evolve Scientific in Sydney's Lucas Heights is seeking a mid‑career Mechanical Engineer with 2+ years' post‑graduate experience to join a small, high‑performing team. You will contribute across design, drafting, fabrication, assembly and commissioning of specialised mechanical systems on advanced silicon enrichment projects.

Australian Citizenship is essential and NV1 clearance eligibility is required. This hands‑on role is suited to a pragmatic, outcome‑driven engineer who can take concepts

Qualifications

• Mechanical Engineering degree with 2+ years' post-graduate experience.
• Strong CAD modelling and detailed design capability.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software, ideally SolidWorks.
• Hands-on engineering experience with fabrication, assembly or workshop environments.
• Experience with pressure equipment, vacuum systems, optics or electro-mechanical integration would be highly regarded.
• Background in defence, medical devices, nuclear, scientific instrumentation, manufacturing or heavy industry environments preferred.
• Ability to translate engineering requirements into practical design solutions.
• Comfortable working closely with technicians and workshop personnel.
• Australian Citizenship is essential.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an NV1 Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical designs from concept through to prototype and manufacture.
• Create detailed 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings.
• Design and develop mechanical and opto-mechanical systems.
• Support fabrication, assembly, testing and commissioning activities.
• Develop prototypes, jigs, fixtures and test equipment.
• Conduct design reviews, validation and risk assessments.
• Manage procurement and external manufacturing activities.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Contribute to QA/QC and engineering documentation processes.
• Ensure compliance with WHS and regulatory requirements.
