Job summary

Aston Advantage is seeking a practical Mechanical Draftsperson in Brisbane to bridge engineering and workshop teams. You’ll modify AutoCAD drawings, manage revisions in Vault, and keep design documentation current to ensure practical, manufacturable results for Australian-designed equipment.

Qualifications

• Strong AutoCAD experience modifying and updating mechanical drawings.
• Experience working within manufacturing, fabrication, heavy vehicle, trailer, transport equipment or machinery environments.
• Experience using Vault for drawing management and revision control.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and manufacturing requirements.
• Experience maintaining inventory, BOMs or design documentation systems.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with engineers and workshop trades.
• Practical understanding of how designs translate into fabrication and assembly.
• Ability to manage drawing revisions and engineering changes accurately.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Modify and update AutoCAD drawings.
• Manage drawings, revisions and engineering documentation through Vault.
• Maintain inventory and design records.
• Work closely with engineers on practical design solutions.
• Liaise with workshop trades to ensure designs are achievable and fit for purpose.
• Interpret technical drawings and manufacturing specifications.
• Identify design issues and coordinate design improvements.
• Support the transition from design through to fabrication and assembly.
• Respond to workshop queries and assist with design clarification.
• Ensure drawings accurately reflect current design revisions.
