Job summary

Private Advertiser is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Supervisor in Melbourne to oversee day-to-day maintenance while completing jobs personally. This role combines practical leadership with on-site execution, ensuring repairs and inspections meet high standards for residential and commercial properties.

You will lead a team of maintenance technicians, coordinate workloads, scope work, prepare quotes and guide on-site problem solving, while maintaining safety and quality across projects.

Qualifications

• Strong background in property maintenance, carpentry, building repairs or a similar trade, with experience supervising staff or leading a crew.
• Broad maintenance skills across doors, locks, plaster repairs, painting and carpentry.
• Ability to scope work accurately and plan jobs efficiently.
• Calm, approachable and accountable leadership style.
• Confidence having clear, constructive conversations with staff.
• Strong organisation and reliable follow-through.
• Professional communication with tenants, property managers and owners.
• Confidence using mobile job management systems.
• Current driver's licence.
• Experience in real estate maintenance and rental compliance inspections highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Leading, coaching and supporting maintenance technicians.
• Completing property repairs, maintenance and inspections.
• Helping coordinate workloads, priorities and job allocation.
• Assessing jobs, preparing quotes and identifying materials.
• Providing technical guidance and troubleshooting on site.
• Checking workmanship and following up incomplete work or defects.
• Reviewing inspection reports, job notes and photos for accuracy.
• Keeping the office informed of delays, changes and customer concerns.
• Supporting recruitment, onboarding and practical training.
• Maintaining safe work practices and coordinating licensed trades where required.
