Job summary

Design & Build Recruitment is seeking an experienced HSE Advisor to join the site team on a long‑term civil construction project in WA. The role is FIFO on a 2:1 roster with an initial contract of 4–6 months and potential for extension based on performance.

You will provide hands‑on HSE support, work with site management and subcontractors, and help drive safety performance and risk controls on site.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience on Rio Tinto sites.
• Fully compliant with current Rio Tinto training requirements.
• Previous HSE Advisor experience within civil construction.
• Strong knowledge of WHS legislation and risk management.
• Hands-on approach and site-based work environment.
• Confident communicating with workers, supervisors and management.
• Strong understanding of JHAs, SWMS, risk assessments and incident management.
• Current Australian Driver’s Licence.
• Available to work a 2:1 FIFO roster.
• Looking for a long-term opportunity with a reputable contractor.

Responsibilities

• Providing day-to-day HSE support across civil construction activities.
• Working closely with Site Management and Supervisors to ensure safe delivery of works.
• Conducting regular site inspections, audits and safety observations.
• Supporting the development and review of JHAs, SWMS and risk assessments.
• Identifying hazards and implementing effective controls with site teams.
• Supporting incident reporting, investigations and corrective actions through to close-out.
• Conducting and supporting pre-starts, toolbox meetings and safety communications.
• Monitoring compliance with HSE systems, procedures and client requirements.
• Maintaining HSE documentation, records and reporting.
• Supporting site inductions and onboarding requirements.
• Providing practical safety advice, coaching and guidance to workers and supervisors.
• Promoting a positive and proactive safety culture across the project.
• Ensuring project activities are completed in line with required HSE standards and procedures.
