Job summary

Ventia is seeking a Guest Services Agent to support on-base accommodation for Defence personnel at Simpson Barracks. You will manage bookings, check-ins/outs, maintain records and coordinate inspections while delivering high-quality customer service.

The role requires 1+ years in hospitality or accommodation, a hospitality qualification, proficiency in MS Office, and a strong customer-service mindset with a safety-focused attitude. On-site work and a Defence clearance are expected.

Qualifications

• 1+ years’ experience in hospitality or accommodation.
• A diploma or degree in hospitality management is advantageous.
• Proficiency in MS Office and record-keeping systems.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Respectful and inclusive approach to working with diverse communities.
• Follow procedures, support teammates and uphold safety responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead room booking and allocation for personnel posted or transit through the base.
• Track and manage keys like a vault master (arrival, departure, and storage).
• Coordinate cleaning, maintenance and respond to service requests.
• Keep records: occupancy stats, logbooks, reports, and inventory checks.
• Liaise with leadership to align accommodation with rank and availability.
• Perform quality room inspections to ensure functionality and welcome.
• Welcome deliveries, manage IT bookings and assist visitors and trades.

About the role

Ventia is currently recruiting for a Guest Services Agent to support on-base accommodation services for Defence personnel. This role involves managing bookings, check-ins/outs, maintaining records, coordinating inspections, and delivering excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to)

• Lead the charge in room booking and allocation for personnel posted or transiting through the base
• Track and manage keys like a vault master (arrival, departure, and safe storage)
• Coordinate cleaning, maintenance and respond to service requests
• Keep records sharp: occupancy stats, rank-room reports, logbooks, inventory and condition checks
• Liaise with leadership to align accommodation with rank and availability
• Perform quality room inspections to ensure everything is functional and welcoming
• Welcome deliveries, manage IT programs related to bookings, and assist visitors and trades

About you

• 1+ years’ experience in hospitality or accommodation
• A diploma or degree in hospitality management or a related field is advantageous.
• Proficiency in MS Office and record-keeping systems
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Respectful and inclusive approach to working with diverse communities
• You take pride in delivering high-quality work safely and reliably. You follow established procedures, actively look out for your teammates, and understand that safety is a shared responsibility. You contribute to a culture where safety incidents, near misses, and hazards are reported promptly and constructively.

Must be eligible to hold a Defence Security Clearance. As a result of this requirement the applicant must be an Australian Citizen undertake and maintain a satisfactory Australian Federal Police check.
