Job summary

Ventia is seeking a Groundwater Technician to perform groundwater monitoring, sample water, calibrate equipment, and collect field data in the Mallee region VIC. The role involves travel, remote work, and occasional overnight stays, with casual on-call shifts from 8am to 4pm.

The ideal candidate will have field experience, basic electronics/a​ptitude, and a valid Driver’s Licence. Australian citizenship is required for Defence Security Clearance purposes.

Qualifications

• Proficient in using hand, power and pneumatic tools.
• Qualifications in Environmental Science, Geology or Hydrogeology are beneficial but not required.
• Environmental monitoring experience in water, air and soils sampling.

Responsibilities

• Field water quality sampling from groundwater bores and mine shafts.
• Un​dertake environmental data collection using specialist software and instruments.
• Servicing, calibrating and maintaining onsite monitoring equipment and sensors.
• Undertake maintenance and new works installations.
• Troubleshoot telemetry devices.

As a Groundwater Technician you will perform groundwater monitoring activities, download and calibrate monitoring instrumentation, perform surface water monitoring, and water quality sampling. This role is largely fieldwork which includes, hiking, working from boats, 4WDíng and working in remote areas. This role is based in Tatura VIC, and will involve working alone and as part of a team across locations in the Mallee region VIC. The successful applicant will be required to stay away overnight from time to time. The role is casual (on call) working 8am – 4pm shifts and will essentially have you working 50% of the month so would suit incumbents returning to the workforce, studying or looking for a change in pace.

You must be an Australian citizen due to Defence Security Clearance requirements.

About The Role

• Field water quality sample collection from mainly groundwater monitoring bores and mine shafts
• Undertaking environmental data collection activities for both groundwater using specialist software packages and scientific instruments
• Servicing, calibrating and maintaining onsite monitoring equipment and associated sensors
• Undertaking maintenance and new works installations
• Troubleshoot telemetry devices

Required Skills And Experience

• Proficient in the use of hand, power, and pneumatic tools or willingness to learn
• Trade experience with an affinity for working outdoors
• Qualifications in Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering, hydrography can be beneficial but not required
• Environmental monitoring experience in water, air and soils sampling
• Electronics / mechanical aptitude
• Computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Driver’s License
