Job summary

Trentham Waters Resort Mildura is seeking a motivated Groundsperson & Assistant Caretaker to maintain our extensive gardens, lawns, outdoor spaces and resort facilities. The role is initially casual, 25–35 hours per week, with some weekend and evening shifts on a rotating roster, reporting to the Maintenance Manager and Head of Grounds.

Qualifications

• This role requires current Driver's Licence, White Card, and ability to perform physically active outdoor work.
• Experience in landscaping, horticulture and/or groundskeeping is preferred.
• Experience operating ride-on equipment and machinery is desirable.
• Working knowledge of irrigation systems and garden maintenance is a plus.
• Strong practical problem-solving skills are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Mow and edge lawns and grassed areas to a premium standard.
• Maintain gardens, landscaped spaces and riverfront areas.
• Prune, mulch, plant and perform general horticultural tasks.
• Weed, pest and vegetation management; monitor irrigation.
• Maintain pathways, outdoor furniture and public areas.
• Ensure grounds and facilities look premium at all times.
• Greet after-hours guests and assist with site/villa directions.
• Lock up public areas and assist with after-hours guest needs.
• Operate ride-on mowers, tractors and utility vehicles.
• Assist with setup and pack-down of events and activities.
• Maintain tools, equipment and work areas; follow WHS practices.

At Trentham Waters Resort, we're creating an experience like no other.

Our Palm Springs-inspired luxury resort is just 15 minutes from Mildura on the Murray River, offering luxury villas and spacious drive-through caravan sites, lagoon pool with splashpark, poolside restaurant dining, and and 80 acres of river frontage and natural bushland.

We're seeking a motivated and hands-on Groundsperson & Assistant Caretaker to join our team and help maintain the high standards our guests love and expect. About the Role

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, with day-to-day supervision and support from the Head of Grounds, this is a diverse and rewarding role responsible for maintaining our extensive gardens, lawns, outdoor spaces, and resort facilities.

This position is intially a on a casual basis between 25 to 35 hours per week, and will include some weekend work along with some evening carteaker type shifts, as part of a rotating team roster.

Key Responsibilities

Grounds & Landscaping

• Mowing and edging lawns and grassed areas

• Maintaining gardens, landscaped spaces and natural riverfront areas

• Pruning, mulching, planting and general horticultural activities

• Weed, pest and vegetation management

• Monitoring and maintaining irrigation systems

• Maintaining pathways, outdoor furniture and public areas

• Ensuring the resort grounds & facilities are presented to a premium standard at all times

Caretaker Duties

• Greeting after hours check-ins and showing them to their site or villa

• General tidying and clean up of public areas

• Locking up and securing various public areas and resort facilities

• Ensuring the comfort and safety of all guests by maintaining a visible presence

• Assisting with after hours guest requirements including investigating basic maintenance issues

Resort Operations

• Operating ride-on mowers, tractors and utility vehicles

• Assisting with set-up and pack-down of resort events and activities

• Maintaining tools, equipment and work areas

• Working safely and following all Workplace Health & Safety requirements

• Providing friendly assistance to guests when required

About You

You are someone who takes genuine pride in creating and maintaining beautiful spaces. You notice the little things, enjoy working outdoors, and understand that every task contributes to the overall guest experience.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in landscaping, horticulture and/or groundskeeping

• Experience operating ride-on equipment and machinery

• Working knowledge of irrigation systems and garden maintenance

• Strong practical problem-solving skills

Essential Requirements
