Job summary

Hamilton Island Golf Club on Hamilton Island, Queensland, Australia, is seeking a dedicated Groundsperson to maintain greens, tees and surrounding areas. You will support the Golf Course Superintendent and help with daily course preparation, landscaping and groundskeeping tasks.

You will live on Hamilton Island and commute by ferry, enjoying island living, access to staff facilities and a close-knit team culture. Prior outdoor maintenance experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping or similar outdoor work.
• Holder of a Manual Driver Licence.
• Good communication and teamwork skills essential.
• Willingness to learn and follow instructions.

Responsibilities

GROUNDSPERSON – Dent Island, Hamilton Island

Your Role

In this role, you will assist our Golf Course Superintendent with preparing and maintaining the golf course greens and garden areas.Your role will undertake turf and garden maintenance and landscape construction duties.

You will live on beautiful Hamilton Island and commute 7 minutes by ferry to the Golf Course. You will assist our Golf Course Superintendent and team with daily preparation of the golf course.

Where you’ll make an impact

• Maintaining all course fairways, tees, greens and rough areas
• Appling fertilizers as directed by the supervisor, including maintaining a log of application
• Assisting with course irrigation
• Maintaining oil, fuel and fluid levels for all types of grounds-keeping machinery

What we’re looking for

We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills and the patience to work effectively with team members. Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage time efficiently are essential in this role.

To be successful, you will need

• Previous experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, gardening or a similar outdoor role (preferred)
• Manual Driver Licence (essential)
• A willingness to learn and follow instructions
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Experience operating landscaping or groundskeeping equipment (highly regarded)
• Chemical Handling Certificate (highly regarded but not essential)
