Job summary

Hamilton Island Enterprises is seeking an experienced Irrigation Technician to join the Resort Presentation team and maintain thriving landscapes across the island. You will design, install, program and maintain irrigation systems, coordinating proactive and reactive programs to promote water efficiency and environmental care.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Irrigation Design and/or Installation is essential.
• Experience designing, installing and maintaining irrigation systems, especially pressure‑compensated drip systems.
• Open QLD driver’s licence (essential).
• White Construction Card (essential).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and program irrigation systems across Hamilton Island.
• Assist with the design and installation of new irrigation systems.
• Coordinate proactive and reactive irrigation maintenance programs.
• Order irrigation components to keep systems operating effectively.
• Support training and development of Resort Presentation team members.
• Maintain tools and equipment per Workplace Health and Safety procedures.
• Establish effective communication channels with the wider team.

Trade the daily commute for tropical gardens and ocean views. Hamilton Island is seeking an experienced Irrigation Technician to join our Resort Presentation team and help keep the island’s landscapes thriving.

This is a hands‑on and varied role where you’ll support the design, installation, programming and maintenance of irrigation systems across the island. Working alongside the Resort Presentation Manager, you’ll coordinate proactive and reactive irrigation programs that promote efficient water use while protecting our unique environment.

Where you’ll make an impact

• Develop, maintain and program irrigation systems across Hamilton Island
• Assist with the design and installation of new irrigation systems
• Coordinate proactive and reactive irrigation maintenance programs
• Order irrigation components to ensure systems continue operating effectively and efficiently
• Support the training and development of Resort Presentation team members
• Maintain tools and equipment in line with Workplace Health and Safety procedures
• Establish effective communication channels to keep the wider team informed
• Undertake the Resort Presentation Manager’s responsibilities when required
• Assist with emergency response and volunteer activities to support employee and guest safety and maintain the presentation of the island

What we’re looking for

You’re an experienced irrigation professional with strong technical knowledge and a practical, solutions-focused approach. You’re comfortable working independently with limited supervision while contributing positively to a close‑knit team. You communicate well, take pride in maintaining high standards and understand the importance of using water efficiently in an environmentally sensitive location.

To be successful, you’ll need

• Certificate IV in Irrigation Design and/or Installation, or extensive experience managing large‑scale landscape irrigation systems (essential)
• Significant experience designing, installing and maintaining a variety of irrigation systems, particularly pressure‑compensated drip systems (essential)
• Valid open QLD driver’s licence (essential)
• White Construction Card (essential)
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Friendly, enthusiastic and safety‑focused approach to work
