Ventia is seeking a Grounds Person to join our Defence Base Services team at Laverton RAAF Base in Victoria. You’ll propagate, plant, mulch, prune and maintain landscapes across diverse outdoor settings, and operate mowers, tractors and hand tools with a focus on safety and precision.

You will work across multiple sites with supervision, bringing at least 1 year of grounds experience, a positive team attitude, and a commitment to safe, reliable delivery of high-quality work.

Qualificações

• 1+ years experience in a similar outdoor role.
• Experience operating and maintaining landscape plant and equipment.
• Certificate in Horticulture or equivalent (desirable).

Responsabilidades

• Propagate and revegetate across diverse landscapes.
• General grounds tasks: debris removal, cleaning outdoor areas, wildlife management.
• Mulching, pruning, turf care, fertilisers.
• Operate and maintain equipment per the Operator's Manual and maintenance schedule.
• Operate mowers, tractors, small plant, machinery and both powered & non-powered hand tools.
• Work across multiple sites as directed by the Supervisor based on operational needs.

About The Role

• Propagate, plant, and undertake revegetation across diverse landscapes.
• Perform general grounds tasks including debris and rubbish removal, cleaning of outdoor features and hardstand areas, and managing injured or deceased wildlife.
• Mulching, pruning, hedging, turf care and the application of chemicals and fertilisers.
• Operate and maintain equipment in accordance with the Operator’s Manual and scheduled maintenance requirements.
• Operation of mowers, tractors, small plant, machinery and both powered & non-powered hand tools.
• Work across multiple sites as agreed with the Supervisor, based on operational needs.

About You

• 1 + years experience in a similar working environment.
• Experience with operating and maintaining plant and equipment.
• Experience in manual handling.
• Certificate in Horticulture or equivalent (desirable but not essential).
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• You take pride in delivering high-quality work safely and reliably. You follow established procedures, actively look out for your teammates, and understand that safety is a shared responsibility. You contribute to a culture where safety incidents, near misses, and hazards are reported promptly and constructively.

Must be eligible to hold a Defence Security Clearance. As a result of this requirement the applicant must be an Australian Citizen and be willing to undertake and maintain a satisfactory Australian Federal Police Check.
