Job summary

Ventia is hiring a Grounds Person for Anglesea Barracks in Tasmania. You will contribute to safe, efficient land and grounds maintenance by performing planting, revegetation, debris removal and general grounds duties across multiple sites as directed by the Grounds Supervisor.

The role requires operating and maintaining plant and equipment, manual handling and teamwork. A Certificate in Horticulture is desirable, and eligibility for Defence Security Clearance is essential.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in a grounds/land maintenance environment.
• Experience operating and maintaining plant and equipment.
• Experience with manual handling.
• Experience within an Environmental Management System.
• Certificate in Horticulture (desirable).
• Ability to work well in a team and follow safety procedures.
• Eligible for Defence Security Clearance and Australian citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Propagate, plant and revegetate across diverse landscapes.
• Perform debris removal, cleaning of outdoor features and hardstand areas.
• Mulching, pruning, turf care, pest control and chemical fertiliser applications.
• Operate and maintain Grounds equipment per manuals and maintenance schedules.
• Use mowers, tractors, small plant and hand tools across multiple sites as directed.

About The Role

As part of the Grounds Management team you will undertake daily operational duties as prescribed by the Grounds Supervisor to deliver the safe, effective and efficient delivery of land and grounds maintenance, this will include but is not limited to:

• Propagate, plant, and undertake revegetation across diverse landscapes.
• Perform general grounds tasks including debris and rubbish removal, cleaning of outdoor features and hardstand areas, line marking, and managing injured or deceased wildlife.
• Mulching, pruning, hedging, turf care, pest control and the application of chemicals and fertilisers.
• Operate and maintain equipment in accordance with the Operator’s Manual and scheduled maintenance requirements.
• Operation of mowers, tractors, small plant, machinery and both powered & non-powered hand tools.
• Work across multiple sites as agreed with the Supervisor, based on operational needs.

About You

• 1 + years experience in a similar working environment.
• Experience with operating and maintaining plant and equipment.
• Experience in manual handling.
• Experience working within an Environmental Management System.
• Certificate in Horticulture or equivalent (desirable but not essential).
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• You take pride in delivering high-quality work safely and reliably. You follow established procedures, actively look out for your teammates, and understand that safety is a shared responsibility. You contribute to a culture where safety incidents, near misses, and hazards are reported promptly and constructively.

Must be eligible to hold a Defence Security Clearance. As a result of this requirement the applicant must be an Australian Citizen and be willing to undertake and maintain a satisfactory Australian Federal Police Check.
