Job summary

Metropolitan Memorial Parks seeks a Grounds Technician to maintain the beauty and dignity of our memorial parks at Sutherland NSW. This hands-on role involves turf maintenance, plant care, pest management and general landscape work in a supportive team.

You will operate a range of tools, work outdoors in various conditions, and interact respectfully with funeral directors, families and visitors. A positive, proactive mindset and willingness to learn are essential.

Qualifications

• Industry experience is an advantage; training will be provided.
• Proactive team player and able to work outdoors.
• Provide courteous service to families and visitors.
• Current NSW Driver's license and White Card are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Grounds maintenance including turf maintenance and pruning.
• Use tools and equipment such as blowers, hedgers, chainsaws and mowers.
• General landscape construction and weed/pest management.
• Plant trees, shrubs and assist planting plans.
• Ensure safety, reliability and high presentation standards.
• Communicate respectfully with Funeral Directors, Clergy, families and visitors.

Join Our Team at Metropolitan Memorial Parks:

We're seeking enthusiastic people to join our grounds operations team at Woronora Memorial Park, located at Sutherland NSW.

As a member of our team, you'll be responsible for maintaining the beauty and dignity of our memorial parks, including grounds maintenance, gardening, turf maintenance and soft landscaping.

About the Role

As a Grounds Technician, you will work as part of a supportive team responsible for the upkeep, presentation and maintenance of our memorial parks. This is a hands-on, outdoor role suited to someone who takes pride in their work, shows initiative and values teamwork.

Your main duties will include:

• Grounds maintenance including turf maintenance, pest and disease control, pruning, hedging, fertilising, minor building maintenance
• Using a range of equipment including hand tools, backpack blowers, hedgers, brush cutters, wipper snippers, chainsaws, push and ride on mowers
• General landscape construction
• Chemical spraying for weed and pest management
• Planting trees, shrubs, and annuals including assistance of planting plans
• Turf management (laying turf and regular maintenance) including assistance with establishing spray and fertilising schedules and determinations
• Communicate effectively with Funeral Directors, Clergy, families and visitors.

• Industry experience is an advantage, however not a requirement, training will be provided

• Enthusiastic self-starter with a willingness to learn and take initiative
• Enjoyment of outdoor work in various climates.
• Comfortable working in a sensitive environment, with a focus on respect and dignity for the deceased and their families
• Current NSW Driver's license
• White Card (or willingness to obtain)
