Queensland Airports Limited (QAL) is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Officer to keep GCAPL grounds and infrastructure safe, well maintained and compliant with airport standards.
You will work hands-on, performing slashing, drainage, vegetation management and minor repairs, operating ride-on machinery. A strong safety mindset and teamwork are essential; licences such as MR, herbicide, bobcat and forklift are valued but not essential. Flexible working options are encouraged.
We are looking for a dedicated Grounds Maintenance Officer to join the team. The position is responsible for undertaking repairs, maintenance and improvements of GCAPL grounds and associated infrastructure.
Stuart, who has been working at GCAPL since 2004 as a Grounds Maintenance Officer shares his unique experience working with the team below:
“I commenced employment in 2004 as a Ground Maintenance Officer, attracted to the diversity of the role and the excitement of working in an aviation environment. Over the years, I've enjoyed the variety the job brings - no two days are quite the same. Gold Coast Airport provides a stable and supportive workplace, with rostered hours that suit my work-life balance, and a culture I genuinely value.”
You’ll play a hands-on role in keeping Gold Coast Airport’s grounds and infrastructure safe, well maintained and operational. This is more than a gardening role, with your experience in large-scale or commercial maintenance helping you undertake activities such as slashing, vegetation management, general grounds maintenance and minor infrastructure repairs. You’ll confidently operate a range of plant, machinery and vehicles, with licences such as Medium Rigid, herbicide, bobcat and forklift highly regarded, but not essential.
You’ll bring a strong safety focus, a practical approach to problem solving and work collaboratively with the broader Asset Services team. From time to time, you’ll also be flexible to undertake work outside usual business hours where operational requirements call for it.
