Job summary

Redland City Council is seeking an experienced Maintenance Crew Supervisor to lead civil, drainage and open space maintenance on the Southern Moreton Bay Islands. You will manage a dedicated crew, plan daily work, and ensure safe, high-quality service across island communities.

The role offers operational autonomy, a 9-day fortnight, and diverse leadership opportunities in a unique coastal environment on Redlands Coast.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising civil maintenance, construction, infrastructure or similar operational teams.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach and develop staff while maintaining accountability.
• Practical knowledge of workplace health and safety practices and a commitment to creating a safe work environment.
• Experience planning and coordinating work programs, resources and contractors.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and operational demands.
• Confidence using digital systems to manage work orders, reporting and operational activities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a dedicated maintenance crew delivering civil, drainage and open space maintenance services across the Southern Moreton Bay Islands.
• Plan, coordinate and monitor daily work programs to ensure services are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
• Conduct daily pre-start meetings, allocate resources and provide clear direction to crews and contractors.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and operational standards while promoting a strong safety-first culture.
• Coordinate island logistics, including materials, contractors and scheduling, to support seamless service delivery.
• Monitor work quality, undertake site inspections and provide technical guidance to team members.
• Manage work orders, procurement and reporting activities to support operational performance.
• Build positive relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors and the local community.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, productivity and service outcomes.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• Well-developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• A current Queensland Driver Licence and the ability to undertake site-based supervisory duties.

• You'll hold a current Class C Drivers License.
• You'll hold a Certificate IV in Civil Construction Supervision and/or Certificate III in Horticulture (or equivalent qualifications), or significant relevant experience in a similar role and the ability to rapidly acquire a Certificate IV in Civil Construction Supervision or Certificate III in Horticulture.
• You'll have a minimum 3 years' experience in a relevant field.
• You'll have the ability to participation in after hours on-call Roster, and other overtime as required.
