Job summary

Harbourside Port Stephens is a not-for-profit aged care provider set alongside the crystal blue waters of Port Stephens. The Grounds Keeper will maintain gardens, lawns and outdoor areas across our facilities to keep them safe, attractive and enjoyable for residents, visitors and staff.

This hands-on role requires a proactive approach, strong attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Purpose of Role

As a Grounds Keepers, you'll be responsible for maintaining the gardens, lawns and outdoor areas across our facilities to ensure they remain safe, attractive and enjoyable for residents, visitors and staff.

This is a hands-on role that requires a proactive approach, strong attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

Your duties will include:

• Mowing lawns using hand and ride-on equipment
• Whipper snipping and edging
• Weeding, planting and mulching garden beds
• Pruning trees, shrubs and plants
• Lawn care, including fertilising and weed control
• Cleaning synthetic turf and outdoor surfaces
• Removal of rubbish and green waste

General Site Maintenance

• Pressure cleaning paths, buildings and outdoor areas
• Cleaning solar panels and gutters
• Irrigation repairs and maintenance
• Cobweb removal and general presentation of site grounds
• Delivery and distribution of goods across the facility

Team Support

• Recording and managing maintenance requests through our maintenance management system
• Reporting faulty or damaged equipment
• Assisting the Maintenance Team during busy periods
• Supporting pool maintenance and cleaning when required
• Driving the facility bus when required and be appropriately licensed

Experience/Qualifications

• Understanding of the Aged Care Sector, Retirement Living and Independent Living Sector
• Trades qualification and/or significant experience in performing maintenance tasks
• Demonstrated ability to work professionally and to operate independently; supervise other staff where necessary
• Awareness of WHS requirements, manual handling and infection control
• Demonstrated communication skills and Interpersonal skills
• Able to work across all company sites
• Proficient with usingapps and workplace technology including MS Office Suite toaccessthe internet, intranet and email, completeonline training, submitleave requests and manageother employee functions.

The successful applicant will be required to have, or undertake:

• National Criminal History (Police) Check.
• Functional Assessment.
• Current Driver Licence
• Current First Aid & CPR Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
