Job summary

Holmesglen Institute is seeking a Maintenance Officer - Grounds to maintain our grounds, landscaped areas and outdoor facilities across metropolitan campuses, starting at Chadstone Campus. The role requires practical horticultural skills and the ability to perform routine maintenance tasks, with responsibilities including turf care, planting, pruning and irrigation upkeep.

You will play a hands-on role, supporting broader Property Services activities, including setting up classrooms and event

Qualifications

Certificate III in Horticulture or related qualifications, or substantial grounds maintenance experience.
Current Victorian Driver Licence.
Chemical User Certificate or willingness to obtain.
Forklift Licence or willingness to obtain.
Manual Handling Certificate or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

Apply practical horticultural knowledge across grounds maintenance activities (mowing, edging, pruning, planting, watering).
Inspect trees, plants, irrigation systems and outdoor areas for maintenance needs and hazards; refer complex issues if needed.
Maintain footpaths, car parks and outdoor areas by cleaning and minor repairs; apply approved treatments.
Plan and organise allocated grounds maintenance activities under routine supervision.
Operate and maintain irrigation systems and tools; perform safety checks on equipment.
