Job summary

Hamilton Island Enterprises – Hamilton Island QLD is seeking a Commis Chef to join a busy, outdoor kitchen focusing on smoked meats and grill items. You will work hands-on across prep and service, supporting senior chefs and developing your grill skills in a hot environment.

The role requires a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, prior kitchen experience, and a positive teamwork attitude to thrive with the Hamilton Island culinary team in the Whitsundays.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (Essential).
• Previous experience working in a commercial kitchen.
• Grill experience or interest in developing grill skills.
• Experience preparing and cooking meats highly regarded.
• Comfortable working around grills in a hot, outdoor kitchen environment.

Responsibilities

• You’ll work hands-on across preparation and service, supporting your section and senior chefs with a strong focus on smoked meats and grill items.
• You’ll prepare ingredients, cook dishes consistently to standard and develop confidence working across a busy grill-focused service.
• This is a physical role in a hot, outdoor kitchen environment requiring organisation, efficiency and teamwork to keep service moving.
