Brunel is recruiting on behalf of a confidential renewable energy developer for a Grid Connection Manager to join their Melbourne team, overseeing grid connections across the Australian project portfolio.

The role focuses on technical leadership, coordinating consultants, and managing NSP communications from feasibility to operations, with emphasis on delivering timely, cost-aware grid integration across projects.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering (Bachelor’s or Master’s).
• Strong ability to read, interpret and produce electrical drawings.
• Knowledge of AEMO GPS and National Electricity Rules.

Responsibilities

• Act as the technical authority on grid connection across the project lifecycle, liaising with NSPs.
• Coordinate grid consultants and review third-party deliverables and technical docs.
• Partner with Project Development Managers on grid connection applications and NSP liaison.
• Assess grid connection designs against scope, timelines and cost implications.
• Coordinate grid-related works with utility providers and contractors through to commissioning.
• Support due diligence on new project opportunities with engineering and markets teams.
• Stay current with grid connection codes, standards and certification requirements and share insights.

Job description

We're recruiting on behalf of a confidential renewable energy developer for a Grid Connection Manager to join their team in Melbourne, working across their Australian project portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical authority on grid connection matters across the full project lifecycle from early feasibility through to operational phase with particular emphasis on managing relationships and communications with Network Service Providers (NSPs) across Australia.
• Direct and coordinate the work of grid consultants and technical advisors, reviewing and assessing deliverables and technical documentation from third-party power systems consultants and equipment suppliers.
• Partner with Project Development Managers on grid connection applications, acting as the key liaison with NSPs, network operators and relevant regulatory authorities.
• Assess grid connection designs against agreed scope, with particular attention to program timelines and cost implications.
• Work alongside the Construction team to coordinate grid-related works with utility providers and contractors, through to commissioning and handover to operations.
• Contribute to the assessment of new project opportunities, supporting technical due diligence alongside development, engineering and power markets teams.
• Stay abreast of emerging trends in renewable energy grid connection (including relevant codes, standards and certification requirements), sharing insights with colleagues across the broader APAC business.
• Take ownership of grid-related issues arising during the operational phase of projects.

About You

• Full working rights in Australia.
• Degree qualification in Electrical Engineering (Bachelor's or Master's level).
• Strong ability to read, interpret and produce electrical drawings.
• Solid working knowledge of AEMO's Generator Performance Standards (GPS) and the National Electricity Rules.
• Familiarity with secondary systems, including substation SCADA, would be advantageous.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, with strong interpersonal skills.
