Job summary

Morrow Geotechnics Pty Ltd is seeking a Graduate Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in 2026. This hands-on role focuses on field-based experience and mentoring from senior Geotechnical Engineers and Engineering Geologists.

You will work on geotechnical site investigations, inspections, groundwater monitoring, and data collection across Sydney, the Illawarra and surrounding areas. Travel, fieldwork, and progression to more technical tasks are expected as you gain experience.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified, or nearing completion, in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering.
• Willing to travel across Sydney and Illawarra.
• Comfortable with outdoor fieldwork.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Australian resident or rights to work in Australia.

Responsibilities

• Geotechnical site investigations including drilling supervision.
• Construction-phase geotechnical inspections.
• Inclinometer installation and monitoring.
• Groundwater monitoring and data collection.
• Coordinate with project managers and subcontractors on site.
• Assist engineers with project delivery and reporting.

Morrow Geotechnics is a specialist geotechnical engineering consultancy with offices in South-Western Sydney and Wollongong, delivering practical, cost-effective solutions across Greater Sydney, the Illawarra and surrounding regions.

We work across a broad range of residential, commercial, industrial and infrastructure projects, providing services spanning geotechnical investigations, design, groundwater and hydrogeology, and construction-phase inspections.

We're currently looking for a Graduate Geotechnical Engineer to join our growing team in 2026.

About the role:

This is a hands-on graduate role with a strong focus on gaining practical site experience. You'll spend the majority of your time in the field, working alongside and being mentored by experienced Geotechnical Engineers and Engineering Geologists.

You’ll gain exposure to different areas of geotechnical engineering and develop a strong practical foundation before progressively taking on more technical and office-based responsibilities as your experience grows.

Key responsibilities:

• Geotechnical site investigations, including drilling supervision, soil and rock logging and sampling
• Construction-phase geotechnical inspections
• Inclinometer installation and monitoring
• Groundwater monitoring and data collection
• Coordination with project managers, drilling contractors and other subcontractors on site
• Collection and accurate recording of field data
• Assisting experienced engineers with project delivery and technical requirements
• Progressive exposure to geotechnical analysis and reporting as your experience develops

About you | Requirements:

• Degree qualified, or nearing completion of a degree, in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or a related field
• Keen to build a career in geotechnical engineering
• Comfortable working outdoors and undertaking hands-on fieldwork
• Willing to travel to project sites across Sydney, the Illawarra and surrounding areas
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Able to work independently as well as part of a team
• Willing to learn, take direction and progressively take on greater responsibility
• Australian resident or current rights to work in Australia
