Job summary

Greatland Resources Limited offers a Civil Geotechnical Engineer Graduate program based at Telfer, WA, commencing February 2027. This 2-year fixed-term, full-time role operates on an 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth and provides exposure to the Open Pit Geotechnical team.

You will work with experienced professionals, contribute to safety, learning portfolios and development goals while supporting ground stability assessments, rock mass modelling, and monitoring systems for open pit and tailings

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (or equivalent).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Organisational and time management abilities.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills with practical applications.
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
• Proficiency in MS Office or equivalent.
• Knowledge of geotechnical modelling and slope design desirable.
• Experience via internship or vacation work is a plus.

We are seeking a Civil Engineering Graduate keen to develop into the Geotechnical mining space.

As a Civil / Geotechnical Engineer Graduate, you will join the Open Pit Geotechnical team at Telfer and gain valuable hands‑on experience while supporting the delivery of business objectives. You will work collaboratively with experienced professionals across the organisation, contribute to projects and operational activities, and participate in learning and development opportunities that support your professional growth.

This position is offered on a 2‑year fixed termfull‑time basis, on an 8/6 roster FIFO from Perth.

As our Geotechnical Engineer Graduate your responsibilities will include:

• Contribute to day‑to‑day team activities and deliver work to the required standard and timeframe.
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and actively contribute to a positive safety culture.
• Build effective working relationships with team members and stakeholders across the business.
• Participate in projects, operational activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Take ownership of your learning and development, including maintaining your Graduate Portfolio and completing agreed development goals.
• Apply analytical thinking and problem‑solving skills to support business outcomes.
• Proactively identify, communicate and elevate risks, challenges and issues where required.
• Work collaboratively across teams and adapt to changing business needs and priorities.
• Provide support to implement and manage monitoring systems for open pit and tailings facilities.
• Assist in geotechnical observation, assessment and modelling of structural data and rock mass conditions for ground stability and mining sequence
• Assist in identifying any impacts of the SLC cave on the open pit operations, current and future.

Additionally, you will have:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (or equivalent)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Well‑developed organisational and time management abilities.
• Developed analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to evaluate information and contribute practical solutions
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also demonstrating initiative and the ability to work independently when required
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent business applications.
• Developed skills in adapting to changing priorities, environments, and business needs while maintaining a positive and proactive approach
• Basic knowledge of geotechnical rock mass rating systems, geotechnical modelling, slope design and ground support design
• Knowledge of industry‑specific software or systems, such as Deswick and Rocscience (desirable)
• Previous relevant experience gained through internship, vacation or other (desirable)

Telfer is a long‑life gold‑copper mine in the Paterson Province of Western Australia’s East Pilbara region. The operation includes both open‑pit and underground mining and Australia’s third‑largest gold‑copper processing facility. Since commencing production in 1975, Telfer has produced over 15 million ounces of gold.
