Job summary

Chart Cooler Svc Co Inc is seeking a Graduate Applications Engineer in The Vale, NSW, to support senior engineers and sales in developing technical and commercial proposals for fans and ventilation systems.

You will rotate through Project Management, Engineering and Service, applying your academic knowledge to real projects and contributing to continuous improvement activities.

Qualifications

• Educated to degree level in engineering or equivalent, within the last 12 months or graduating soon.
• Proficiency with drafting and 3D modelling software like AutoCAD, Inventor or equivalent.
• Strong MS Excel and MS Word skills.

Responsibilities

• Submit proposals by bid due date and provide technical clarifications to meet requirements.
• Apply academic learning to the workplace and develop technical justification for equipment.
• Specify and procure quotes for major items via external sub-vendors for proposals.
• Maintain proposal documentation to ensure QA compliance.
• Provide technical support for commissioning activities.

Job Description

• Support and assist Senior Application Engineers and sales team in developing technical and commercial proposals for fans and ventilation systems.
• Support and assist Senior Project Managers in day to day activities for executing turnkey projects.
• Support and assist Senior Design Engineers in project engineering and continuous improvement activities.
• Where possible, the Graduate Engineer shall be rotated through key technical departments within the business including; Project Management, Engineering and Service, depending on available projects within each team.

Contribute to the business through application of engineering skills and knowledge.

What Will You Do?

• 1. Ensure proposals are submitted by the agreed bid due date and submission of subsequent technical clarifications meets customer requirements.
• 2. Apply academic learning to the workplace environment.
• 3. Development of technical justification for proposed equipment including the offer of alternative proposals. Apply product to customers system and advise on improvements that are possible.
• 4. Specify and procure quotes for major, technically compliant, cost effective items via external sub-vendors to prepare comprehensive proposals and accurate cost estimates.
• 5. Maintain proposal documentation in line with company procedures and policy to ensure compliance with QA standards.
• 6. Ensure Company policies, procedures and norms are followed for all proposals activities to ensure the highest level of quality.
• 7. Provide technical support for commissioning activities.
• 8. Embrace Howden core company values.

Liaise and co-operate with company management with regards to the current health and safety legislation and obligations within the location and area where you performing your duties.

Your Physical Work Environment Will Require...

Internal

• Various functional departments including engineering departments, QA department, projects and after sales to ensure compliance with proposal requirements and manage responses in line with the proposal schedule and customer requirements.
• Provide technical support to other functions within the business
• Head of Sales, Managing Director and Howden legal for commercial aspects of proposals

External

• Client for presenting proposal, negotiating and winning business.
• Sub-suppliers to procure technically compliant and cost effective quotes.
• Agents to determine market conditions, identify opportunities and present proposals

Your Experience Should Be...

Essential skills, knowledge & behaviours

• Educated to Degree level or equivalent in engineering related discipline (e.g. Mechanical, mining or aeronautical) within the last 12 months or expected to graduate from degree within the next 6 months
• Proficiency with drafting and 3D modelling software such as AutoCAD, Inventor or equivalent
• Strong MS Excel and MS Word skills
• Knowledge of rotating machinery applications would be advantageous
• Well developed analytical and research skills
• Demonstrates a professional attitude
• Ability to think proactively and independently solve problems, think laterally and identify corrective actions
• Well-developed communication skills written and oral
• High level organisational skills with the ability to work autonomously in a team environment and manage pressure and meet timelines
