Job summary

Bentleys Queensland is seeking a Graduate Accountant to join our Business Services team in Brisbane from January 2027. You will work with experienced professionals delivering accounting, taxation and advisory services to a diverse client base, building technical skills and pursuing CA/CPA studies.

You’ll work with Managers and senior staff on client work, with ongoing training, mentorship and support to develop a strong foundation for a career in public practice.

Qualifications

• Recent accounting graduate or in final year of degree
• Keen to start a career in public practice and complete CA/CPA studies
• Foundational understanding of Australian tax legislation
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and office software

Responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements and income tax returns with support from senior team members
• Assist with BAS and IAS
• Support tax compliance and apply Australian tax legislation
• Assist with tax planning through data gathering and analysis
• Support lodgement processes and liaise with the ATO
• Prepare client correspondence and support client meetings
• Manage assigned tasks to ensure timely, accurate completion
• Contribute to a collaborative team environment and seek feedback
• Participate in training and development opportunities

About The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Accountant to join one of our collaborative and high-performing Business Services teams, to commence in January 2027!

As a Graduate Accountant you'll work alongside experienced professionals to deliver high-quality accounting, taxation and advisory services to a diverse client base. This is an excellent opportunity to build your technical skills, gain hands-on experience and develop a strong foundation for a successful career in public practice.

Working closely with Managers and senior team members, you'll be involved in a variety of client and compliance work while receiving ongoing training, mentorship and support.

Key Responsibilities Include

• Preparing financial statements and income tax returns with support from senior team members.
• Assisting with Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS).
• Supporting tax compliance and learning how to apply Australian tax legislation in practice.
• Assisting with tax planning activities through data gathering and preliminary analysis.
• Supporting lodgement processes and liaising with the ATO.
• Preparing client correspondence and supporting client meetings.
• Managing assigned tasks to ensure timely and accurate completion.
• Contributing to a collaborative team environment and actively seeking feedback.
• Participating in training, development programs and ongoing learning opportunities.

About You

You're a recent accounting graduate, or in the final stages of completing your degree, and are looking to kick-start your accounting career in a supportive and professional environment. You're eager to learn, committed to your professional development, and keen to commence or continue your CA or CPA studies while building strong technical and client-facing skills.

You'll Bring

• A degree in Accounting or a related discipline, or be nearing completion.
• A foundational understanding of Australian tax legislation.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate work.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Exposure to accounting software such as Xero, MYOB or QuickBooks (desirable).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A proactive approach to learning and professional development.
• The ability to take responsibility for your work and manage competing priorities.
