Job summary

Workfast is looking for an experienced RIW Excavator Operator to join a major Rail project in the Junee region, NSW. You will operate excavators fitted with GPS machine control to complete civil earthworks and excavation activities.

This role offers day shifts at $46 per hour with overtime, accommodation & meals provided, DIDO, and 10–12 hour shifts, Monday – Sunday. Start date ASAP. You will work closely with site supervisors, engineers, surveyors and ground crew to meet project deadlines.

Qualifications

• RIIMPO320F Excavator Ticket.
• Current VOC (Verification of Competency).
• Statement of Attainment.
• Construction White Card.
• Valid Driver’s Licence.
• Experience in detailed civil or rail earthworks.

Responsibilities

• Operate excavators fitted with GPS machine control systems to complete civil earthworks and excavation activities.
• Carry out bulk and detailed excavation, trenching, battering, grading and site preparation.
• Use GPS technology to meet design levels and site specifications.
• Interpret site plans, drawings and levels to meet project requirements.
• Coordinate daily activities with site supervisors, engineers, surveyors and crew.
• Perform pre-start inspections and maintain equipment in safe condition.
• Identify and report hazards and underground services.
• Maintain high work standards and meet deadlines and targets.
• Follow all safety procedures, SWMS and WHS requirements.
• Assist with general civil construction duties as required.

What You Will Be Doing

Operate excavators fitted with GPS machine control systems to complete civil earthworks and excavation activities.

Carry out bulk and detailed excavation, trenching, battering, grading and site preparation.

Use GPS technology to work accurately to design levels, alignments and site specifications.

Interpret site plans, drawings and levels to ensure work is completed to project requirements.

Work closely with site supervisors, engineers, surveyors and ground crew to coordinate daily activities.

Complete pre-start inspections and maintain equipment in a safe operating condition.

Identify and report hazards, underground services and potential site issues.

Maintain accurate work standards while meeting project deadlines and productivity targets.

Follow all site safety procedures, SWMS and workplace health and safety requirements.

Assist with general civil construction duties as required.
