Job summary

Workfast is hiring an Excavator Operator in Acacia Ridge, QLD to join our Recycling and Waste Management team. Operate 5t–40t excavators, use grapple attachments, trench and backfill, load materials, and follow safety procedures.

You must hold a current RII Excavator Ticket/VOC, a valid Australian Driver's Licence, and pass a pre-employment medical and drug test. Reliable transport is required.

Qualifications

• Experience operating excavators in waste/recycling/quarry environments.
• Must have a current RII Excavator Ticket / VOC.
• Must hold a valid Australian Driver's Licence and full working rights.
• Reliable transport and ability to pass medical and drug/alcohol tests.

Responsibilities

• Operate 5t–40t excavators safely and efficiently in a recycling/waste setting.
• Use grapple/grab attachments to sort and move waste and recyclables.
• Perform trenching, benching, backfilling and final trim work.
• Work stockpiles and off the face with a focus on safety and production targets.
• Load and move materials while meeting site safety standards.
• Complete daily pre-start checks and basic machine maintenance.
• Collaborate with supervisors and site personnel for smooth operations.
• Adhere to all site policies, procedures and safety regulations.
• Assist with additional site duties as required.

We are actively seeking a dedicated Excavator Operator to join our Recycling and Waste Management team. You will be part of a motivated crew working in a fast-paced environment, ensuring that operations run smoothly, safely, and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate 5t - 40t excavators safely and efficiently within a recycling and waste management environment.
• Use grab/grapple attachments to sort, move and manage waste and recyclable materials.
• Trenching, Benching, Backfilling, Final trim.
• Work stockpiles and operate off the face with a strong focus on safe operating procedures.
• Load and move materials while maintaining production targets and site safety standards.
• Conduct daily pre-start checks and basic machine maintenance.
• Work closely with supervisors and site personnel to ensure smooth site operations.
• Follow all relevant site policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
• Assist with additional site duties when required.

What You Bring to the Team:

• Previous experience operating excavators in waste, recycling, quarry, or similar environments.
• Experience using grapple/grab attachments is essential.
• Experience working stockpiles and off the face.
• Current RII Excavator Ticket / VOC required.
• Valid Australian Driver's Licence and full working rights.
• Must have reliable transport.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol test.
• Strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
• A positive attitude and reliable work ethic.
