Role Overview

Due to continued growth and a significant focus on operational improvement, a rare opportunity exists for an experienced General Manager - Finance Shared Services to lead the shared services function of an established ASX-listed Australian technology services business.

Reporting directly to the Group CFO, this is a genuine opportunity to take ownership of the function and improve its effectiveness from first principles. The successful candidate will lead a team of 26 across Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Project Accounting and Order Management.

The role will be both strategic and operational, with clear ownership of a number of existing business challenges including AR ageing, PO and invoice controls, process efficiency and automation. With the business having grown significantly through acquisition, this is an opportunity for a proven Shared Services leader to bring best-practice thinking, establish stronger processes and controls, and create a scalable operating model for the next phase of growth.

Responsibilities

The role will have overall responsibility for the performance, development and transformation of the Finance Shared Services function, including:

  • Lead, manage and develop a team of 26 across Sales Orders, AR, AP, Payroll and Project Accounting
  • Establish and drive a high-performing Shared Services operating model across Australia, New Zealand and the Philippines
  • Review existing processes and controls and identify opportunities for improvement from first principles
  • Take ownership of AR performance, including reducing aged receivables and improving cash collection
  • Strengthen PO, invoice and AP controls across the group
  • Drive automation and process improvement initiatives across the function including identifying opportunities to leverage technology and AI to improve efficiency and scalability
  • Continue to develop a strong culture of engagement, accountability and continuous improvement
  • Lead and develop six direct reports, ensuring capability and leadership depth across the function
  • Support the integration and standardisation of processes across the businesses acquired by the group
  • Establish clear KPIs and performance measures that drive measurable improvements across Shared Services

The successful candidate will be motivated by the opportunity to push the agenda of continuous improvement and demonstrate a strong understanding of what best practice looks like.

You will bring strong technical and operational fundamentals, with experience in leading sizeable teams, with a proven track record of maintaining culture, high engagement and performance.

Candidates coming from a recognised best-in‑class Shared Services environment will also be strongly considered and above all, you will be a strong people leader who can balance strategic thinking with hands‑on operational execution. You will be comfortable identifying problems, developing solutions and then driving those solutions through to measurable outcomes.
