Norwest Recruitment in Western Sydney is seeking a Finance Manager to own the local finance function and partner with the CFO and management team. The role is Excel-intensive, requires handling large datasets, and delivering meaningful commercial insights.

The ideal candidate will be CPA/CA qualified with strong month-end and financial reporting experience, and will manage a high-volume finance team in a fast-paced environment, reporting to the local CFO.

Finance Manager – Western Sydney

Are you a commercially minded Finance Manager who thrives in a fast-paced, Excel-heavy environment?

This is an opportunity to join one of Australia's largest service providers in its industry, working closely with an experienced local CFO and global finance leadership team.

We're looking for someone who enjoys being close to the numbers, can move quickly between financial accounting and commercial analysis, and is confident turning large volumes of Excel data into meaningful information for the business.

The Role

As Finance Manager, you'll take ownership of the local finance function while acting as a key business partner to the CFO and wider management team.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys a high-volume environment, is highly proficient in Excel and can work independently.

Financial Accounting

• Own the month-end close, including GL and balance sheet reconciliations
• Prepare BAS and Payroll Tax returns
• Manage payroll tax and workers compensation allocations
• Oversee daily cash reporting and weekly cashflow forecasting for the Board
• Maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting
• Lead and develop the local finance team

Commercial Accounting

• Analyse financial and operational data to identify trends, risks and opportunities
• Work across milestone and project-based accounting
• Prepare meaningful financial analysis for management and senior leadership
• Use large datasets to identify variances and explain the underlying drivers
• Support budgeting, forecasting and cashflow management
• Turn detailed Excel analysis into clear commercial insights

Business Partnering

• Partner closely with the CFO and operational leaders across the business
• Provide financial insight to support commercial and operational decision-making
• Challenge assumptions and ask the right questions rather than simply reporting the numbers
• Work with global finance stakeholders and an overseas subsidiary
• Provide the Board and senior management with accurate, timely and commercially relevant information

About You

You'll be a qualified CPA or CA with experience operating as a Finance Manager, ideally within a complex, fast-moving organisation.

Most importantly, you'll be someone who is extremely comfortable in Excel.

You'll be working with high volumes of data, financial models, reporting and analysis, so you should be fluent in Excel and able to manipulate, interrogate and make sense of information quickly.

We're looking for:

• Strong, high-volume Excel capability
• Previous experience managing a finance team
• Experience reporting to an overseas parent, subsidiary or Private Equity environment
• Milestone or project-based accounting experience
• Strong financial accounting and month-end knowledge
• Commercial acumen and proven business partnering capability
• A proactive, independent approach with strong accountability
• Experience with Xero, Salesforce and/or COGNOS
• CPA or CA qualification

The Opportunity

This is more than a traditional Finance Manager position.

You'll work closely with both the local CFO and Global CFO, giving you exposure to senior leadership and the broader business while becoming the 2IC within the finance function.
