Job summary

Epiroc in Perth, WA, invites an experienced RTOC Technician to remotely monitor field systems, diagnose issues and provide tiered technical support across multiple product lines.

You will collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering and IT to improve fleet reliability while supporting safe service delivery. A rotating 8/6 roster applies with occasional site travel.

  • Ensure data streaming to clients meets QA/QC and reporting standards.
  • Install and maintain software on field systems and troubleshoot OreSight data.
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance with Operations and Field teams.

Join our high-performing Remote Technical Operations Centre (RTOC) team based in Kewdale working an 8/6 roster as an RTOC Technician. In this critical role, you'll remotely monitor equipment performance, troubleshoot technical issues and provide real-time support to field operations across multiple product lines. Your expertise will help minimise downtime, improve operational efficiency and support the safe delivery of services to our customers.

About the Role:

As an RTOC Technician, you will remotely monitor field systems, analyse operational data and provide first and second-level technical support to field personnel. You'll work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering and IT teams to identify issues, implement solutions and continuously improve fleet reliability and performance.

This role also supports the monitoring of personnel safety through Lone Worker and Driver Safety Systems and ensures operational data is delivered accurately and on time.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical and automation faults on in-field logging units using remote access software and direct communication with field operators, escalating complex issues where required.
  • Provide first and second-level technical support to field personnel to minimise downtime and maximise operational efficiency.
  • Monitor the performance, health and operational status of field equipment, assets and vehicles using systems including Power BI, Mix Telematics, Grafana and other operational platforms.
  • Ensure client data is successfully streamed from site, meets QA/QC requirements and is delivered accurately and on time through the appropriate reporting channels.
  • Install, configure, test and maintain software applications on field systems, while performing quality control of OreSight logging data and resolving issues with field personnel.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance and Field teams to ensure preventative maintenance activities, inspections and calibrations are completed as scheduled.
  • Monitor Lone Worker and Driver Safety Systems, responding to event notifications and maintaining accurate operational and troubleshooting records.
  • Assist with incident investigations, root cause analyses and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance and system reliability.
  • Develop and maintain troubleshooting documentation, operational procedures and technical support resources.
  • Support the onboarding and training of new RTOC Technicians and field personnel and participate in ongoing team training.
  • Work a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays, and undertake occasional site travel (approximately 2–4 times per year) as required.

Skills & Experience:
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical and mechanical faults either remotely or in the field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong commitment to health, safety and continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint.
  • Strong technical knowledge of computer hardware, software and operating systems.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Qualification in Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation, Automation, Chemical Process Engineering or a related discipline (TAFE Diploma or University Degree).
  • Experience working within mining, drilling, mineral exploration or oil and gas operations.
  • Exposure to PLC, HMI and industrial automation systems.
  • Experience with wireline logging and/or core scanning operations.
  • Technical support or technical call centre experience.
  • Experience coordinating maintenance activities across field-based teams.
