Job summary

Orelogy, part of the Perenti Group, seeks a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to lead a Perth-based consulting team. You will provide strategic geotechnical expertise, governance, and client-facing support across multiple mining operations worldwide, mentoring engineers and shaping technical strategy.

The role combines technical leadership with site-based assessments, travel to operating sites, and collaboration with senior stakeholders to improve safety, stability, and operational outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 10 years' geotechnical engineering experience across mining methods.
• Strong experience in both open pit and underground environments.
• Expertise in ground control, slope stability, and risk management.
• Leadership experience and ability to mentor teams.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Provide principal-level geotechnical support across open pit and underground mining operations.
• Lead technical reviews, governance activities, and assurance programs.
• Conduct audits, risk assessments, and performance evaluations.
• Review GCMPs, TARPs, and related standards.
• Deliver site-based assessments and recommendations.
• Support stope design, crown/sill pillar design, and stability analyses.
• Develop and deliver geotechnical risk training and awareness.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate with site teams.
