Job summary

Geotest Services Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Field Technician to join our field team, primarily operating across North West and South West Sydney. This hands-on role involves geotechnical testing across multiple civil and infrastructure projects, with Level 1 supervisory responsibilities.

You will perform field testing and sampling, collect samples, record data, and produce field reports while adhering to Australian Standards and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a geotechnical field technician.
• Level 1 supervisory experience – essential.
• Knowledge and practical experience with geotechnical field testing.
• Understanding of relevant Australian Standards and testing procedures.
• A current NSW Driver Licence.
• Strong attention to detail and accurate record keeping.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work outdoors in a range of weather and site conditions.
• Professional and reliable approach to working with clients and project teams.

Responsibilities

• Conduct geotechnical field testing and sampling in accordance with Australian Standards and company procedures.
• Undertake Level 1 supervision and associated field testing activities.
• Perform in-situ soil testing and other geotechnical field investigations.
• Collect, label and manage soil and material samples.
• Accurately record field data, test results and site observations.
• Complete field reports and documentation in a timely manner.
• Communicate professionally with clients, site supervisors and project personnel.
• Maintain testing equipment and ensure it is kept in good working condition.
• Follow all workplace health and safety requirements and site-specific procedures.
• Travel to various construction and civil project sites throughout Sydney.
• Work independently while maintaining communication with the office and broader Geotest team.
