Job summary

C & T Geotechnical (Melbourne) Pty Ltd is seeking a motivated Field / Soil Technician to join our team in Melbourne's western and regional sites. This hands-on role covers soil inspection, sampling, compaction testing, and site classification across civil and construction projects.

You will work with site teams, project managers, and our office staff to ensure accurate testing, timely results, and reliable data.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience in soil or field testing.
• Knowledge of Level 1 inspection and testing.
• Knowledge of AS1289 standards.
• Current White Card and a valid driver’s licence.
• Current Radiation License is preferred.

About Us

C & T Geotechnical is a rapidly growing geotechnical testing company based in Tullamarine. In just 18 months, we have established a strong presence across Melbourne's west, Geelong, and regional areas, and we continue to expand into new regions.

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Field / Soil Technician to join our team and grow with the business.

About the Role

This is a hands-on field role involving soil inspection and testing across a range of civil and construction projects. You will work closely with site teams, project managers, and our internal office staff to ensure testing is completed accurately and on time.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct Level 1 field inspections and testing in accordance with project and industry requirements

Carry out soil sampling, compaction testing, and site classification tasks

Liaise with site supervisors and project teams

Maintain testing equipment and vehicles

Work across various sites throughout Melbourne and surrounding regions

At least 1 year of experience in soil or field testing

Understanding of Level 1 inspection and testing

Knowledge of AS1289 standards

Experience conducting DCP testing

Current White Card

Current driver's Licence

Current Radiation License

Willingness to work overtime and weekends when required

Strong attention to detail and reliability

Good communication skills and ability to work independently

The ability to communicate and liaise with clients

Experience using the Geotester testing program would be highly regarded but is not essential

Rail Industry Worker (RIW) card would be highly regarded but is not essential

Knowledge and experience with testing in accordance with VicRoads RC test methods
