Job summary

Northern Star Resources Limited in Western Australia is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join Thunderbox Operations. Reporting to the Geotechnical Superintendent, you will provide geotechnical support across open pit and underground operations to contribute to safe mine design, ground support, monitoring and risk management.

The role involves inspections, hazard reporting, data collection from instrumentation, input to mine design, and seismic monitoring.

Qualifications

• Minimum tertiary qualification in Geotechnical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience applying geotechnical principles to mine design and production.
• Ability to interpret instrumentation data and contribute to risk management.

Responsibilities

• Provide geotechnical support to open pit and underground operations.
• Perform underground and surface inspections for geotechnical hazards.
• Maintain geotechnical hazard reporting and QA/QC systems.
• Collect, analyse and interpret data from instrumentation and records.
• Provide input to mine design and scheduling processes.
• Monitor and assess performance of geotechnical designs.
• Conduct geotechnical mapping of excavations.
• Support seismic monitoring, data processing, analysis and reporting.
