Job summary

AECOM Sydney invites applications for a Geotechnical Engineer to join the Geotechnical Engineering and Tunnelling Team. The role involves field investigations and office-based design and interpretation across infrastructure projects in NSW, Australia, and internationally.

You will deliver geotechnical investigations, analysis, and reporting while collaborating with engineers, geologists, and technical specialists in a hybrid working model.

Qualifications

• On-site experience required and willing to work in the field.
• Strong collaboration with office and field teams.
• Desire to build technical capability and planning/management of investigations.
• Experience scoping, planning and managing geotechnical investigations.
• Familiarity with geotechnical modelling software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare desktop studies: data review, interpretation, and technical docs.
• Plan and supervise geotechnical site investigations including drilling and sampling.
• Perform soil profiling and rock core logging per AS 1726:2017.
• Collect and manage soil/rock samples and coordinate lab testing.
• Ensure compliance with standards, guidelines and safety procedures.
• Prepare factual and interpretive reports.
• Assist with geotechnical analyses for foundations, slopes and pavement designs.
• Assist in bids and scope development with preliminary cost estimates.
